The Walker Riverside area is served by a number of facilities that you can take advantage of. The Lightfoot Sports Centre is a sports centre in the heart of Walker with a variety of fitness suits and exercise classes, as well as numerous activities for children of all ages. Welbeck Library has a wide range of literature for the community and is situated on Welbeck Road. Kids Kabin is based in Church Walk and provides lots of activities for children of all ages.
There are plenty of great days out on Walker Riverside’s doorstep too, including; Seven Stories (the children’s bookstore), Centre for LIFE, BALTIC and Newcastle’s Discovery Museum. If you want to be involved with activities a bit closer to home there are many community groups that you can get involved with, ranging from kids clubs to support organisations.
The Walker Riverside area has a number of public transport routes, including the 39/40 which runs from the city centre along the north of the Walker Riverside area and then on to Wallsend, and the 12 which runs from the city centre, through Byker and through Walker Riverside via the Lightfoot Centre and then eastwards along Walker Road.
