There is something for everyone in Walker Riverside, young or old.
The Lightfoot Centre is in the Heart of Walker located on Wharrier Street and offers a range of activities for all ages. For more information telephone 0191 2782000.
The East End Pool is located on Sheilds Road complete with two swimming pools, a sauna and a fitness suite.
Public swim and fun sessions come complete with waves and bubbles.
The Green Flag award winning Walker Park is ideal for dog-walking or a friendly footie kick-about. It is a stunning public area boasting two bowling greens with a pavilion, two tennis courts and basketball courts and a children’s equipped play area. There is also a Play Centre within Walker Park which organises activities for children.
Walker Riverside Park is located to the south of the Walker Riverside area and runs parallel to the banks of the river Tyne. Hadrians Way runs through Walker Riverside Park and provides many miles of track suitable for walking and cycling. Riverside Park is a haven for wildlife and provides excellent views up and down the river Tyne and across to Gateshead.
